Planning a visit to Marlow and looking for a family photographer to capture your time here? This lifestyle family photography session in Marlow followed a visiting family as they explored Marlow Bridge, Higginson Park and the River Thames towards Marlow Lock. As a local family photographer in Marlow, I specialise in relaxed, natural photography and can document your family enjoying the town, creating meaningful photographs that feel genuine and timeless.

Towards the end of 2025, I met a lovely family who were visiting the UK from Saudi Arabia. They were planning a visit here before a longer stay in London and wanted to book a family photographer in Marlow to capture their time exploring the town.
I met them at their hotel and we walked over Marlow Bridge towards Higginson Park, a great location for family photos in Marlow. It was a cold, frosty start but a beautifully sunny day, so things soon warmed up.

I suggested feeding the ducks, and their two-year-old son absolutely loved it. It was the perfect ice-breaker, and he was so excited that he was jumping clear off the ground!

The strong sunshine created dramatic conditions with wonderful opportunities for shadow play, but it isn’t always the most flattering light for relaxed and connected family portraits. We moved to a more sheltered area of the park, under tree cover, where the light filtered beautifully through the branches and created a soft, dreamy haze — ideal for lifestyle family photographs in Marlow.

This was a lifestyle family photography session, so rather than posing the family, I guided them towards areas of the park where the light and backgrounds worked best and suggested simple games and prompts. My approach as a family photographer in Marlow is to encourage natural interaction rather than static poses. I might suggest Mum and Dad sit on a blanket while their son runs around them, or ask them to lie down while I photograph from above - then I step back and allow the family to move naturally.

Later we played a game where Mum and Dad tried to catch their son in a blanket I'd brought along.

After around an hour in Higginson Park, we walked towards Marlow Lock. There are several small alleyways along the route that give photographs a relaxed, urban feel. The walk takes you across St Peter’s Street - the oldest street in Marlow - which leads down to the river. We captured some beautiful images of the family sitting on the jetty by the water. This part of the session became more documentary in style, as everyone felt comfortable and relaxed, and I simply photographed moments as they unfolded.

I absolutely loved showing some of my favourite parts of Marlow to a family visiting from abroad. Booking a local photographer in Marlow is a wonderful way to discover hidden spots and make the most of your time here.
If you’re planning a trip here and are looking for a family photographer in Marlow (or the surrounding areas), please feel free to get in touch. I’d love to help you plan your visit and capture relaxed, natural photographs of you enjoying your time together.
(Wouldn't it be lovely to be in the holiday photographs properly for once, instead of just in a few selfies?)
